The construction brings together three carefully considered details:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eStainless steel insert:\u003c\/strong\u003e separates the tealight’s metal cup from direct contact with the wooden sides of the holder.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eReclaimed slate base:\u003c\/strong\u003e a disc at least 5 mm thick sits beneath the candle, forming a separate layer between it and the wooden base.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003ePermanently fitted assembly:\u003c\/strong\u003e the steel and slate are fixed in place using heat resistant adhesive, with epoxy putty sealing the upper edge.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis carefully considered construction is an integral part of every holder I make, with attention given to the details inside as well as the finished appearance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eThe natural character of oak\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWarm natural tones and distinctive grain give these oak holders their character. Some pieces show pale flecking across the grain, while others have a quieter pattern. Each piece of oak brings its own variation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEvery holder is individually turned, sanded and finished with a softly rounded profile. The grain and colour vary between pieces, including within a pair.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eDimensions and candle fit\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach holder measures approximately 50 to 55 mm tall × 70 mm wide.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe candle opening measures approximately 41 mm in diameter, accommodating standard tealights around 38 to 40 mm wide and some slightly larger styles. Select your preferred option before adding to your basket.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eMaking the most of the wood\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhere possible, I use reclaimed wood, offcuts and smaller pieces bought from local timber merchants to make my homeware. Working with the timber available helps me keep waste to a minimum and can bring small differences in thickness, dimensions or shape between pieces. Each follows the same overall design, with measurements given approximately.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eHandmade variation\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach piece is individually handmade, so slight variations in size, shape, grain and colour are part of the making process. Your pieces will be very similar in overall style, but will not be the exact ones pictured.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eNatural wood movement\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNatural wood movement may occasionally cause small surface checks or slight separation around the insert. Inspect the holder regularly, and discontinue use if the insert becomes loose, the holder becomes unstable, or a crack develops through the wooden wall or base.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eCare and use\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWipe the wooden exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
